Dr Karolien Van den Bergh is a bio-engineer and lecturer in the Professional Bachelor programs of Biomedical Laboratory Technology and Chemistry at UCLL, University of Applied Sciences in Leuven, Belgium. She combines scientific expertise with a passion for science education. She teaches courses in Molecular Cell Biology, Cell and Tissue Culture, and Quality Management. Beyond the classroom, she is engaged in developing innovative digital tools that enhance both theoretical and hands-on science education. Her work in collaboration with XPLab (UCLL) on Extended Reality (XR) opens up immersive learning experiences, allowing students to explore high-tech biomedical lab environments and interact with state-of-the-art laboratory automation systems, all within a virtual space.
