Associate Professor Maurizio Costabile earned his PhD in Immunology from the University of Adelaide, Australia. He joined the University of South Australia in 1998 as a lecturer in Biochemistry and Immunology, and over time, his research moved from the laboratory to the classroom. His research focuses on how technology can be applied to enhance student learning of lecture and laboratory content and approaches. In particular, he has had great success using simulations in these contexts, starting with Articulate Storyline, moving into Unity, and most recently, AI-generated apps. These innovative approaches have led to Maurizio receiving multiple local, national, and international teaching awards and the broad dissemination of his practice at conferences and journal publications.
